The Soundproof Pavilion

Psalm 31:19-20… “Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues” (KJV).

This psalm deals with the problem of lies and untruths that circulate when good people are in leadership. David said that evil-minded people had laid out a net to foil his leadership. This trap consists of lies, innuendoes, accusations, and vindictiveness. David said that he was a reproach among his enemies (v. 11). Today in our nation, many misrepresent the truth. People are stung by falsehoods. There is however a place of silence and safety. “Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man.” One translation reads, “Thou shalt hide them in thy soundproof pavilion.” That’s the place we must run to. There, in His pavilion (secret place), we are out of earshot from the lies and accusations. In that secret pavilion we are far from the strife of tongues. In His pavilion there is only truth.

There are enemies in our nation who hate the Christians. They hate Biblical values and they deny the reality of Christ. These enemies send arrows of lies designed for your destruction. God, however, has designed a place for you. There you will find rest. There in His secret place you will be nourished. There your soul thrives. There the malicious intent of the devil is frustrated. Are you being lied against? God has a place of safety for you, His “soundproof pavilion.”
