Deuteronomy 16:18-20… “Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee” (KJV). Psalm 2:10… “Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.”
These verses may very well be a prophetic glimpse of the church’s position in the last days. Judges must stand for righteousness. Today, it seems that too many judges are holding the laws of God in contempt. The laws of God are for the entire world and not just for America. The next president of our nation may have to appoint new Supreme Court judges. The upcoming election is not about the war with Iraq or the economy. It’s about evil versus good. God is neither Republican or Democrat. God stands alone, above all governments of men. God is unmoved by political words. He judges nations, and He holds judges accountable to carry out his laws of righteousness and mercy and justice. Romans 13:3-4 teaches that God instituted rulers to bring law and order into society and to restrict and restrain violence. But alas, it seems that many of our nation’s judges have crossed the line and use their power for evil purposes. When people vote for those who sanction these evils, they are guilty of encouraging sin to flourish. The world is at a crossroads.
