Jesus, Healer Of Nations, Pt. 3

(Part 3 of 4)

Scripture reveals the kinds of teaching, preaching, and healing that Jesus did. Teaching informs the mind. The word “teaching” refers to teaching precepts, imparting knowledge, conditioning the mind, and instructing to bring about a frame of mind. Jesus was teaching the gospel of the Kingdom. Preaching stirs up the spirit. It’s the spirit part of us which God touches and that touches God. Jesus was stirring up the spirit of the people and getting them in touch with God. Preaching points you to Christ. Preaching gives you hope and raises your expectations. The word “preaching” means “to proclaim a message, to urge acceptance of a message.”

Healing keeps the body healthy. Jesus was waiting upon people personally, and He cherished doing what was needed to be done. The word “healing” means “to restore to health, wholeness, and soundness.” The word “healing” also carries the thought of personal care and attention, bringing wholeness to the entire person.

Jesus wants people well in body and soul and spirit. The prophet Ezekiel in Ezekiel 34:4 rebukes the shepherds with, “The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick” (KJV). Psalm 27:2 says, “When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came on me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. The word “enemies” refers here to diseases as well as the demonic. There are all kinds of diseases eating away at people today, such as AIDS, cancer, coronary problems, diabetes, bitterness, and hatred. It’s the disease that should stumble and fall, not the believer. Notice the kinds of diseases Jesus healed…

Healing all manner of sickness… The word “sickness” as used here is taken from a word meaning “to have a diseased appetite” or “an abnormal craving.” There is a lot of this today. “Craving” is out of control and it refers to more than just eating. Usually we think of drugs and alcohol, but what about the craving to hurt someone, to abuse someone, to molest someone, to rape someone, to kill someone, or to do violence to someone? Human willpower cannot stop some types of craving, because abnormal craving is satanic in origin. Jesus can heal people of this terrible sickness. Abnormal appetites need to be rebuked in the name of Jesus.

All manner of disease… The word “disease” as used here refers to softness and weakness in your body that has been inherited from ancestry. Many fear dying of the same diseases that killed their parents or relatives. The devil taps into this ancestral lineage and transfers that disease into weak areas of your body. The world is into genetic discoveries today. Jesus is concerned with the prevention of disease as well as curing disease. Many believers need to be prayed for, for the purpose of breaking an ancestral curse. Jesus broke the power of all curses and all sin along with the power of all demonic diseases when He died upon the cross.

All sick people… This, as used here, refers to people who clutch to themselves something that will make them sick. It could be alcohol or drugs, or many other things. The Holy Spirit said to me, “People hold on to bitterness, hate, resentments… unforgiveness, jealousies, self-pity, fear, worry, and a lot of other things too.” Each of these things brings its own kinds of sickness. Let go of these things. Some time ago I prayed for two teenage girls. They told me that their father had molested them and they were very bitter. They had “clutched” this evil deed all their lives. God touched them that day and healed them. I’m sure that the devil is behind many things which people clutch to themselves. Let go of hate and resentments…
