Philippians 3:10… “[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in that same way come to know the power outflowing from His resurrection [which it exerts over believers], and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death, [in the hope]” (Amplified).
I want to talk a little about growing spiritually. I am sure that most believers want to grow. Growing spiritually involves the following:
Good listening… Isaiah 50:4, “The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned” (KJV). Good listening helps your vision. It gives you right words.
Speak truth… Proverbs 8:7, “For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips” (KJV). Don’t ever give out false reports.
Work righteousness… Psalm 15:2, “He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart” (KJV). David was showing just who ascends up in the promotion ladder. Cheating is wrong.
Relate to people… Matthew 5:46-47, “If you love only those who love you, what good is that? Even scoundrels do that much. If you are friendly only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else?” (TLB). Enough said.
Doing justice… Psalm 82:3, “Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy” (KJV).Walk humbly, show mercy and compassion.
Be a healer… Luke 4:18, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted.” (KJV). Society is full of hurts; become a caring person.
Be a giver… Luke 6:38, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over.” (KJV). Share–never stop sharing.
Attend worship with other believers… Hebrews 10:25, “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together…” (KJV). Take time for personal and spiritual renewal. You need to know your God.
Keep learning… James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (KJV). Prepare for change as things will not stay the same way forever. You will need God’s wisdom in order to deal with the change that is inherent in life.
Be accountable… Romans 14:10, “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ” (KJV). There are two places to stand–before your mirror and before your God. Be accountable to both yourself and to God.
