The Cross Made The Difference

1 Corinthians 1:18… “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (KJV). Philippians 3:18-19… “For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction.”

I felt in my spirit that I needed to remind you of the power of the cross (Romans 1:16-18). What Christ did on the cross is the power behind our faith. We were lost sinners and Christ died for us. The cross changed our position in life.

We were aliens, but Christ and the cross made us citizens (Ephesians 2:16-19).
We were enemies, but Christ and the cross made us friends (Ephesians 2:14-16).
We were strangers, but Christ and the cross made us sons and daughters (Ephesians 1:5).
We were slaves, but Christ and the cross set us free (John 8:34-36).
We stood accused, but Christ and the cross gave us forgiveness (Galatians 3:13, 1 John 1:7).
We were debtors, but Christ and the cross settled our account (Ephesians 1:7).

Only Jesus could do these things for mankind. Without the shedding of blood, there can be no remissions of sin (Hebrews 9:22). There is no other way (Acts 4:12, John 14:6). When the time of our death comes, the cross makes the difference as to where we will spend eternity. We can depart this life in peace.

The old hymn asks, “What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Paul wrote in Galatians 6:14, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world” (KJV). All of heaven is interested in the cross of Christ. All hell is afraid of it. Here on earth, men and women dare to ignore its meaning. The cross of Jesus changes lives. The cross is a place of decision. It divides people into two classes, the saved and the unsaved. Billy Graham said, “God proved His love on the cross. When Jesus hung there and bled and died it was God saying to the world, ‘I love you.’”
