Genesis 28:10-13… “And Jacob went out from Beersheba, and went toward Haran. And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set; and he took of the stones of that place, and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep. And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it. And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed” (KJV).
First, we look at the purpose for the ladder. It reached from the ground to heaven. God stood at the top of the ladder. Angels descended and ascended carrying communication; they were ministering spirits, the messengers of God between God and man. John 1:14… “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (KJV). The word “dwelt” means “tabernacled.” God had come down and dwelt among man. Again there was conversation and communication as God came to earth. Through Christ we have communication with God. Romans 8:35 says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (KJV). The word “separate” can mean a communication breach. Nothing can stop Jesus from communicating with us. The breach has been closed; God is here. John 14:16 tells us that the Comforter is here to be with us and in us; again, there is a continual communication with God. God came down the ladder to dwell in us and with us. Saints, the ladder has been removed. You can converse daily with God. Have you needs? Talk to God about them. Do you need God’s presence? Talk to God. He is so full of love. He has words, He has help, He has joy, He has peace, and He has rest. God came down the ladder… to be there for you.
