(Part 3 of 3)
Psalm 34:15-16… “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth” (KJV). Judgment is seen here. It is righteousness that God regards. God is against those who do evil, and the church is not exempt.
Psalm 34:17… “The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles” (KJV). Here is my favorite motto: “In the heart of man, a cry. In the heart of God, supply.” Put it in your heart.
Psalm 34:18… “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit” (KJV). The word “broken” means “to burst or break down or off, to break in pieces, broken-hearted, crushed, hurt, quenched, full of tears.” The word “saveth” means “to be safe, defended, delivered, helped, and preserved.” If you are too proud to humble yourself, you will stay in your misery.
Psalm 34:19-20… “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken” (KJV). Protection is seen here. Keeping you from all harm is seen here. God can deliver you out of all of them. God is concerned with your whole being.
Psalm 34:21-22… “Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate” (KJV). Redemption is seen here.
The idea is that calamity will surely overtake the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. If you take refuge in the Lord, He redeems you, pardons you. Sin brings its own penalty. Only the Lord can save the sinner; the cross of Christ is the only successful deliverance.
King David had it right. He blessed the Lord at all times, because he knew God cared for him.
