Finish What You Start

Proverbs 13:19… “The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul” (KJV). It’s great to have creative skills and creative ideas, but are you a follow-through person? Jesus was thirty years old when He started His ministry, and He touched many lives by His miracles and teachings. Hidden in the gospel is the creative principle of wisdom that revealed His power and poise. It was showed on the crucifixion day, as Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). The sins of mankind can now be forgiven… forever. The gospel plan that was started in the book of Genesis was now complete.

Jesus was a finisher. He linked man to God, and man can now approach God without fear. The Lord will bless you and give you honor when you finish the little things you started. Do what you said you would do… Write that letter… Telephone your friend… Follow through on your good intentions. Get the spirit of a finisher. Matthew 10:22 says, “He that endureth to the end shall be saved” (KJV). Ask the Father today, “Father, put within me the spirit that You have, the spirit of a finisher.”

Become a “tomorrow thinker.” Think new things. Do not be a yesterday thinker. Isaiah 43:18-19 says, “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert” (KJV). The devil can only discuss your past; that’s the only information he has to work with. Jesus comes into your life to end the past with all its pains and hurts and give birth to your tomorrows. The Lord says, “Stop taking too many trips into yesterdays. Concentrate on your tomorrow.” Move forward with your life. Trust Him to direct your paths. Trust Him with your tomorrows. Why? Because we do not know our tomorrows. Let Him say, “This is the way, walk ye in it…” (Isaiah 30:21). When your tomorrow comes, it comes with God’s grace working in full measure on your behalf. “The future is with men of upright mind” (Psalms 37:37, Moffatt).
