Evidences

Evidences… things helpful in forming a conclusion, outward signs, supporting by testimony, basis for proof. I list a few evidences to help you along in your Christian walk. The devil tries to make people doubt their salvation.

The evidence of faith is works… James 2:14-17

The evidence of love is sacrifice… 1 John 3:16

The evidence of discipleship is continuance… John 8:31

The evidence of abiding is fruitfulness… John 15:5

Boll Weevils And Prosperity

In 1915 a boll weevil infestation descended upon the cotton crops of the South. Crop damage exceeded one million dollars that year. Meanwhile, George Washington Carver had been experimenting with peanuts. He knew their value. “Burn your cotton, plow under your fields, and plant peanuts,” he said. He had asked God to tell him why He made the peanut. With God’s help Carver discovered over a hundred uses for the peanut. The value of peanuts skyrocketed. Peanut farming grew and was more profitable than cotton. Farmers prospered. In 1919, the people made a statue of the boll weevil. The inscription read, “In profound appreciation of the Boll Weevil and what it has done as the herald of prosperity.” The Lord often allows trials to unsettle our lives and then reset our lives to His purposes. Are you going through a hard time right now? Then thank God that He can take what is not good for you and redirect your life towards what is good for you (Romans 8:28). “Everything is needful that God sends. Nothing can be needful that God withholds” (John Newton).

These Verses Work

Isaiah 64:4-5… “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him. Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness.”

The word “meetest” means “to collide, to make intercession, to bump into someone.” The idea is that you are on the road going towards God, and God is on the road coming towards you. You meet head on and stop and converse and make intercession. Your rejoicing drew Him. Because you were joyful in your approach and cheerful, God will do for you some things that you never dreamed of or thought of. He meets a rejoicing heart.
