Meet With God First

John 17:3… “And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (KJV). Know Jesus first, and you will know eternal life. Eternal life is “life that existed from the beginning, a course and quality of life that exists always.” A lot of folk want this quality of life, one full of health and provision, before knowing the Lord personally.

Philippians 3:10… “[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him [that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving and recognizing and understanding the wonders of His Person more strongly and more clearly], and that I may in the same way know the power outflowing from His resurrection” (AMP). In other words, if I know Him first, I will know the power of His resurrection. The power of His resurrection includes provision. Paul emphasizes “knowing the wonders of His person.” Fulfillment of provision will come after knowing Him.

Joshua 14:12-14… “Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day . . . And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance. Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the LORD God of Israel” (KJV). The word “Hebron” refers to communication and fellowship of the highest order with the Lord. This is the “spirit” the Lord wants us to have. Know Him and you’ll have a dwelling place that is full of provision.

Exodus 19:17… “And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God” (KJV). If I were to ask, “Where was Moses taking them when he led Israel out of Egypt?” most would say “Canaan land.” This is true… God’s first purpose however, was to bring them to the mount so that they could get a revelation of Him. “Israel feared and stood afar off” (Exodus 20:18-20). People want the promise of provision without first meeting God. The emphasis today is not any different. People want the blessing without having to meet God.
