Knowing God As My Friend, Pt. 2

(Part 2 of 2)

V. 14…When the friendship of God is felt in the home, the father puts on righteousness… Righteousness clothed him. This is a powerful truth. Jacob said, “So shall my righteousness answer for me” (Genesis 30:33, KJV). Putting on righteousness is a great protection. King David said, “God delivered me because of my righteousness” (Psalm 18:20). God will deliver you as well.

Vv. 15-16… When the friendship of God is felt in the home, the father’s ministry is seen in action… He was a counselor to the blind and a guide to the lame. He searched out answers for those who needed them, and legal matters were settled. Job was a father who had time to listen.

V. 17… When the friendship of God was felt in the home, Job rescued people from Satanic oppression… Note The Living Bible… “I knocked out the fangs of the godless oppressors and made them drop their victims.” Job made the devil drop their victims. He was able to do what Jesus did. He took away from the devil what belongs to God. The anointing empowered him to tell the oppressors to take your hands off my children. Job 27:11 says, “I will teach you by the hand of God: that which is with the Almighty will I not conceal” (KJV). “I will instruct you in the power of God” (NASB), or “what is in God’s power.” Moffatt’s translation says, “I can show you how God’s power works.” God’s power is greater than drugs and greater than illicit morals. God can rescue children out of the devil’s hands (Ephesians 1:19-23).

Vv. 18-20… When the friendship of God is felt in the home you are secure in retirement… God has a blessed retirement for senior saints. The best security for retirement is knowing that God is awake when you are asleep. Today, it’s like making sure the door is locked and bolted. These verses also teach about long life and daily refreshing. “My glory was fresh in me” (v. 20, KJV). Psalm 92:10 says, “I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” Job didn’t fear old age. God never said, “Senior saints, you are useless.” He spoke of bearing fruit in old age.

Vv. 21-25… When the friendship of God was felt in the home Job was able to give leadership… People needed leadership and they saw that Job was able to give it to them. Job’s words were treated as rain from heaven. People want to learn and they will obey when they have confidence in their leaders. A leader is one who “leads out.” Job was not one who laughed at people’s problems. Today, wives and children are crying out for fathers who will lead. The nation is crying out for responsible leaders. Isaiah teaches that when the leaders are not anointed, a wave of rebellion comes against all leaders. Loss of discipline, increased selfishness, crime and debt, and rebellious youth are all signs that fathers are not anointed (Isaiah 3).

GOD IS OUR VERY BEST FRIEND… Is His friendship in your home? If not, God can mend it today. God has called fathers to intimacy. Is your house a dungeon house that is full of bondage, and are you locked out from freedom? Is your household a financially secure house but without love and joy and peace? God wants your house to be a temple house where there is happiness and security brought about when God’s presence fills the home. God can heal misery and hardships when you seek the Lord with all your heart, mind, and body. Our politicians today talk about family values, but they can’t agree as to what “family values” are. Psalm 127:1 says, “Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it” (KJV). Walking with God as your friend is very restful. There is nothing that He does not know about us. The Lord wants you to be absolutely honest with Him. Fathers… God is for you and not against you. The very best defense for your family is to have a godly father leading it.
