(Part 2 of 3)
Psalm 24:1-5… “He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation” (v. 5, KJV). This psalm talks about the kind of man who comes into the government of God. This psalm talks about the kind of man who is able to approach God. Note the word “who.” The hill of the Lord is more than just a blessing; it is coming into ruling and reigning. Only God can bring you to this level, not your education or your own efforts. What is the government of God? 1 Corinthians 12:28 refers to “government,” which is a place where guidance is given. Romans 12:8 talks about governing. This is more than holding a position in a church. This is walking on the holy mountains of God. Mountains are also symbols of government. The overcomer rules with Christ (Revelation 2:26). Note Matthew 25:21. Faithfulness to God brings rulership. God wants to bless people with His kind of rulership: the man with clean hands, the man with a pure heart, the man whose emotions are in balance, the man who keeps his promises, the man who is not wishy-washy. He will be blessed and honored by God. God wants to bless you as well.
Psalm 89:15-17… God wants to bless people who know the joyful sound. “Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted” (KJV). The truth here is knowing “the joyful sound.” With all the problems in the world, people still do not know the joyful sound. They are hearing many different sounds (voices). The sounds that people are hearing today are not joyful sounds. The Bible is full of joyful sounds. Leviticus 25:9 talks about the sound of the Jubilee trumpet that proclaims liberty. Leviticus 26:36 talks about the sound of a leaf chasing away the enemies. 2 Samuel 5:24 talks about the sound presence of God in the mulberry trees. The Bible talks about the sound of battle, the sound of musical instruments, the sound of rain, the sounds in the sky, and more. In Psalm 89:15, the phrase “the joyful sound” means an acclamation of joy, rejoicing, or a high joy.
The NIV reads, “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you” (Psalm 89:15). The man that God blesses knows how to acclaim Jesus. The word “joyful sound” is the name of Jesus. It is proclaiming the name of Jesus and more. The people not only proclaim the name of Jesus, they know what He is saying. 1 Corinthians 14:8 talks about uncertain sounds. These are sounds that reveal nothing. The sound from Jesus brings revelation, knowledge, wisdom, prophetic confirmation, and teaching. How do you acclaim Jesus? Psalm 89:1 says by singing; verse 2, by acknowledging His faithfulness; verses 3-4, by knowing you are under covenant blessings; verse 5, heaven praising God’s wonders in the congregation. Jesus stands alone. There is none like Him (v. 6). Verse 7 speaks of reverence and awe. Verse 8, God’s faithfulness is all around you; verse 9, demonic activity is silenced; in verse 10, Rahab, i.e., the world, does not have a hold on you. God has a blessing for all who acclaim Him. God wants to bring you into honor. Note verse 20. God found David and anointed him. How about you? Has God found you and anointed you to be a blessing and to be blessed and honored?
Proverbs 8:34… The man that God blesses hears the Lord. “Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors” (KJV). This whole chapter deals with the importance of the Holy Spirit filled life. Are you hearing what the Holy Spirit is saying? The Holy Spirit cries for you to hear what He is saying. In verses 1-5, the word “cry” means “to call out; to have an encounter with Him.” He calls because He has a message that will help you. In verses 6-31, the Holy Spirit testifies. He tells what He is and what He does. He never speaks wrong things. He does not lie. He does not confuse you. He does not twist the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit tells us that the knowledge He gives is better than money. He knows all our excuses. He helps us make right decisions. Then He talks about Jesus. Verses 22-30… “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way” (v. 22). Whenever Jesus was on a project, the Holy Spirit was brought in. “I was there with Jesus,” the Holy Spirit said. The Holy Spirit goes on to say that He was with Jesus as a Master Craftsman. Then He lets you in on a secret. “I want to tell you what my greatest delight is,” the Spirit is saying. Verse 31 says, “My delight is being with the children of men.” God wants to honor and bless the man who is hearing what the Holy Spirit is saying. Are you that man? This is the kind of man who God wants to honor. Note verse 34… The man God blesses is the man who watches at His gates. Simply put… God blesses the man who is listening to the Holy Spirit.
