God’s agenda is to fill the earth with His glory. Why should God be interested in filling church buildings, when His purpose has always been to fill the whole earth with His glory? Habakkuk 2:14 reads, “For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea” (KJV). Psalm 72:19 reads, “And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.”
Many churches today are big and full of people, but empty of God’s glory. Isaiah 42:8 reads, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images” (KJV). Years ago, the Holy Spirit showed me some truth from Jeremiah 22:13-17. There the Lord showed me that big churches often are the result of leaders having “eyes and hearts of covetousness.” When man’s agenda takes priority over God’s agenda, the people who need deliverance are neglected. God sees it. When God’s glory fills the earth, many big buildings will be full, not by man’s wisdom, but by the glory of God. Churches will not be able to handle the sinners and backsliders who will flock to renew their lives. The Lord is concerned more for nations and communities than He is about buildings and church affiliations with their religious traditions. In Jeremiah 22:6 the Lord said through Jeremiah, “For thus saith the LORD unto the king’s house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon.” The word “Gilead” means “witness.” The word “Lebanon” means “pureness.” The church must be a witness of the righteousness (pureness) of God. When they fail to witness, they become a wilderness and empty. Matthew 5:14-16 teaches that we are the lights of the world to shine in the darkness, that people may see the glory of God. Alas… today most believers’ lights shine “only among other lights.”
Christmas is John 3:16… God’s glory will fill the whole earth.
