Evils Under The Sun, Pt. 2

Esther 3:5-6… “And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath. And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai” (KJV).

The Hamans of this world want to rid the land of Christians. Haman’s lust for power led him to use evil methods to destroy God’s people. There is a lot of “plotting and planning” going on in wicked circles today. The battle of Ephesians 6:10-18 is taking place right now. Notice v. 12: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (KJV). These “powers” refuse to let Christ have first place. These powers reject the order God has laid down. These powers refuse to submit to Jesus Christ. God is looking for a generation of people who are willing to stand against the evil intentions of evil powers. Notice, Paul said the righteous are to stand. “Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (v. 10), not in your might.

Esther 3:1-15… “And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed” (v. 15, KJV). Haman wants the righteous  confused, hurt, and without a vision of what to do. Confusion is one of the devil’s biggest weapons. The word “perplexed,” as used here, means “to be entangled.” Confusion blurs your insight. A lot of believers in this nation are without insight into what’s happening in our society. Why? Because there are a lot of “Hamans” in pulpits who have no idea whatsoever of the purposes of God. 1 John 3:8 teaches, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (KJV). Esther 4-7 show us that, with God’s help, Mordecai and Esther prevail.

When leaders listen to the righteous whom God has planted in places of authority, laws change. And as for Haman… Esther 7:10 says, “So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified” (KJV). Our generation needs men and women like those written about in Hebrews 11:1-3… “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” The word “worlds” refers to an allotted period of time, such as decades, generations, or centuries. The word “framed” means “taking an existing thing and then altering it by reshaping.”

The idea is this… The righteous men and women of Hebrews 11 received a word from God, acted upon it and changed – i.e., reshaped – society for decades to come. They knew what the will of God was, believed it, and did something about it. Hebrews 11 tells their story. The church should be praying for leaders who can and will stand up in their culture with the power of the Holy Spirit upon them. The results will be, as in Acts 4:13-14, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man who was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it” (KJV).

Today, it seems that when the righteous speak, the wicked prevail against them. Princes are walking while slaves are riding.

God wants to change that.
